Song of the Day, May 12: Picture This by Blondie

BlondiePictureThisToday’s song is a standout from Blondie’s third album, Parallel Lines. The disc is a strong collection of varied but cohesive tracks. Picture This is a wonderful slice of reminiscence. Debbie Harry lays out a list of simple wants: a room with a view, a photo in her wallet, a small remembrance. She alternates these wishes with vignettes of winter days, clearly pining for someone absent. The juxtaposition is smart, creating a tension that mirrors her sense of loss.

Picture this, my telephone number

Enjoy this fun song today.
