Song of the Day, April 8: Married to the Song by the Watchman

WatchmanPeacefulMarriedToday’s song is the finest moment of Ad van Meurs working as a bandleader. After he released his solo debut, using the name the Watchman, Meurs gathered a full band for his second outing. Peaceful Artillery is a fun disc that has more musical experimentation, but it lacks the intimacy and charm of the debut. A few standout tracks rank with the best of the Watchman, however, and the finest of those is Married to the Song. A joyous romp through Meurs’ love of music, the song is unabashedly delightful. Wide-eyed but nicely grounded, the group offer an honest celebration.

Enjoy this delightful song today.
