Song of the Day, October 13: Flood of Sunshine by the Posies

PosiesDear23Today’s song is the brilliant closer to the Posies’ finest album, Dear 23. The disc is an amazing set of power pop tunes, offering stories both hopeful and heartbreaking with gorgeous harmonies and rich musical settings. Flood of Sunshine wraps things up in majestic fashion. Clocking in at over eight minutes, it offers beautiful layers of music.

The swirling guitars and aching vocals conjure up the title image flawlessly. After all the misadventures the band has charted on the album, this wash of sound offers a cautiously optimistic final statement. Long songs can be tricky, but there isn’t a false note or wated moment here.

Enjoy this wonderful song today.
