Cock Robin - When Your Heart Is WeakThis week sees an LA band that was huge in Europe begin its One Hit Wonder run on the Hot 100. The quartet Cock Robin formed in 1982 around singer-songwriter Peter Kingsbery. Their eponymous debut album featured anthemic new wave sounds that made the group stars in France, Belgium, Italy, and the Netherlands. The first single, When Your Heart Is Weak, is an aching ballad that entered the chart at #90 thirty years ago today. In a 16-week run, it sneaked up to #35. The group never had another US hit. They built on their overseas success, releasing two more albums and a string of singles before breaking up in 1990. Kingsbery brought the band back together in 2006. They continue to record and perform today.
