Song of the Day, May 13: Uninspired by the Connells

ConnellsUninspToday’s song is Uninspired from the Connells bittersweet masterpiece Fun and Games. It’s the tale of a singer struggling with success. He finds himself going through the motions, unable to capture the energy that sparked his work at one time, even as his fans continue to cheer and applaud.

Doug MacMillan turns in a flawless vocal, capturing the tension nicely. He keeps things moving even as he sounds weary, almost ready to surrender like the subject of the song wishes he could do. It’s a complex performance, bolstered by a confident band, that makes this a standout on a disc filled with stellar tracks.

Enjoy this marvelous song today.
