Song of the Day, September 24: Cure For Pain by Morphine

Today’s song is Cure For Pain by Morphine. The title track from their amazing 1993 album, this is an unusually upbeat song for the band. Of course, it has its dark hooks, but the overall message is one of impending redemption.

I propose a toast to my self control
You see it crawling helpless on the floor
Someday there’ll be a cure for pain

Today would have been Morphine frontman Mark Sandman’s 59th birthday. Let’s celebrate his wonderful talent and enjoy a live version of this wonderful song.
