Song of the Day, July 13: Would I Lie to You? by Eurythmics

Today’s song is Would I Lie to You? by Eurythmics. This was the first single from the duo’s fourth album, the spectacular Be Yourself Tonight. After a somewhat eccentric first album and two amazing albums of cool synth-based pop, Annie Lennox and Dave Stewart got gritty for this release. Would I Lie to You? is a powerful song showcasing Lennox’s fantastic vocals. (Full disclosure: I bought the album the last day of my freshman year of college and damaged a toe dancing around my nearly empty dorm room.) On this day in 1985 the song peaked at #5. Enjoy the classic video and wonderful song today.
